Independent Grocers

Independents make-up a thriving $75 billion segment of the grocery industry — the convenience stores (“C-Stores”), small grocers, speciality shops, and others with insufficient sales to patronize major distributors.

Restocking is a problem for small grocers and C-stores. Large distributors are reluctant to sell to stores that purchase less than $10,000 per week. Small operators are left with unattractive choices. Club Stores such as Sam’s Club are an option — but, prices are high for wholesale and selection varies and may not match small operators’ clientele. Food Service firms such as Kraft are an option — but prices are often higher than retail. Independent Wholesale Distribution Centers (often called “Cash & Carrys”) are a good alternative.

EZklick understands the business and culture. It uses MicroNEX’s proprietary CRISP enterprise software to transform the business with e-commerce. As an enterprise system, CRISP brings efficiency and order to chaotic Distribution Center operations

CRISP’s $1 billion of grocery industry transactions include approximately $100 million of Distribution Center business. Point-of-sale, realtime perpetual inventory, reordering, receiving, general ledger, customer records, and management reporting are integrated. CRISP handles the nuances of taxes, cigarettes, returns, and credit issues peculiar to the business. Charges, statements, and payments are handled automatically. So are different price and privilege levels for different classes of customers.
